Today's news suggests that there is uncertainty in government departments about the need for the millions of new houses in the south-east of England that
John Prescott was banging on about when he was Deputy Prime Minister.

His plan was obviously to relieve the pressure on house prices in particular and the housing market in general.

Well we got that one sorted, didn't we!

Perhaps they can now remove permission to build on back gardens by pretending they...

sized gardens were provided for most new homes. The problem now arises that by combining the gardens from adjacent houses a substantial increase in density is
possible.

No mention here of the lunatic situation whereby gardens continue to be classed as 'brown field' when considered for development. In the good old days
it was difficult for back gardens to be developed. The concept was known as 'in-filling' and was not normally supported by planning committees. How is

The Royal Borough is appealing to landowners, developers and residents to identify sites that could potentially be suitable for housing - and thereby reduce
the risk of Green Belt land being given over to development.

Any suggested site will be assessed on its individual merits and not all sites will be considered appropriate.
