The funeral procession of George V passes along the High Street in Windsor, 28th January 1936, on its way to St George's Chapel. From time to time we receive enquiries about pall bearers at royal funerals. The writer is often hoping to find a photograph of a relative who was involved in the procession in some way, or even just confirmation that a family rumour is true.At this stage we do not have very much information about who took part although it is sometimes possible to locate and identify...

Having researched my relative, Reverend Maurice Edwards, OBE further since I posted my initial query, I realise I made a monumental slip-up. I have now
managed to find out that he was appointed honorary chaplain to King George VI in 1939 and so the funeral he took part in was in 1952 not 1936! Perhaps that
might make locating a colour photograph of the procession a lot easier.

I don't know of any colour images off the top of my head, and in the 1930s colour printing was still not always true colour because tints were added by
artists onto monochrome images. So even if your uncle was featured, it would not be certain that the artist would have known to tint his cloak the right
colour! Can you narrow down which part of the procession he took part in? To or from the Lying in State, or London or Windsor? Also, in what capacity was he
taking part? This might help...

My father once mentioned that his uncle, the Reverend Maurice Edwards, was a part of the funeral procession of King Edward V. Apparently he was wearing a red
cassock. I have never managed to find a colour photograph of the event, and hoped you might be able to help with my query.
