Posts: 1074 (05/05/08 06:00:41) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	170 members of the Household Cavalry were presented with their Operational Service Medals today by Princess Anne following recent military service in Afghanistan. The Princess Royal also pinned the service medal on the chest of her nephew, Prince Harry, at Combermere Barracks. Prince William, Prince Charles and Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy watched the ceremony. The Household Cavalry's commanding officer in Afghanistan, Lieutenant Colonel Edward Smyth-Osbourne, hands over command of the Household Cavalry Regiment this week. After the ceremony, they marched to Trinity Church, the Garrison Church, for a thanksgiving service. Video - Parade in Alma Road The above video is compressed for web viewing. As it turned out I missed an extended round of applause for the troops as they arrived. I mean a good minute's worth, it could have been longer, I was outside in a nearby garden by then and heard it all clearly. It was the same really enthusiastic applause that the troops received as they marched through Windsor last week and I remarked then that it was really warm and wholehearted. Something I have never seen in Windsor before. Polite clapping - yes. Whole hearted cheering, no.

It really does make us all feel so proud when we see them on t.v. or online via your videos. We get very emotional because they seem, to us, so very young..but you can't catch every minute of every parade, so, please be aware that there are some of us 'out here' who really appreciate what you HAVE got on your camera. Whenever the question, 'where are you from then?' pops up, and I reply 'Windsor', the same answer always comes back. 'Oh, aren't you lucky'. Well, yes, I am.
