The wedding will take place at St George's Chapel on Friday, 8th April 2005. [Edit: It was later announced that the civil wedding ceremony would take place at the Guildhall] Camilla Parker-Bowles will take the title of Duchess of Cornwall and Princess Consort, a new title, but one that harks back to the early days of Queen Victoria's marriage when Prince Albert was known as the Prince Consort.
Already the world's press and TV are converging on the castle, interviewing tourists and townsfolk alike, and even a local street-sweeper who was unconcerned other than by the additional litter he would have to sweep up!
The announcement has come as a surprise to almost everyone for, although it was on the cards that it would happen at some time or other, it was not expected at this time.
One question is "Will the wedding take place before or after the forthcoming UK General Election? Our guess is that it will take place before an election, so that the wedding day is past when campaigning begins in earnest as the election date is announced.
