Can anyone recommend a local builder who could do some works STPP. We're thinking of an en-suite or maybe 2, some re-pointing and potentially a kitchen extension.

Blimey, looks like I'd better look outside Windsor if I'm to get anyone in. No-one can recommend a decent builder? Perhaps that just tells us that the town does not have any of the traditional trades or industry and we will have to bring in tradespeople.

Tricky one, but I was pleased to see that you had asked.
I shall be in a similar position shortly and was considering knocking on a few doors where extensions, etc. had obviously been recently completed to see what the owners said. I am aware that during an extension to a 30s house in Alma Road the frontage of the extension was so poorly 'pointed' that it was all ripped down and done again!!!

That is a shame. As I say, I am going to knock on a few doors of houses with recently completed extensions around here and see how the owners got on.
But the truth of the matter is that there are millions of pounds sloshing around in this area and the construction, kitchen, bathroom and loft extension people have more work than they can cope with. I am considering a couple of Polish guys - contactable through the Polish community in Slough. |

I am now almost through the project I had in mind last summer and elsewhere have recommended an excellent plumber and a very competent 'all-rounder'.
I have also had good service from some others but have insufficient experience to provide a report here. However, if you would like to email me [editor [at] thamesweb.co.uk] I will happily let you know my experiences. |

Hi Jiffle King,
I was just wondering if you'd had any success finding a reliable local builder? I'm also looking for a builder in central Windsor (to fit new ceilings, plastering of walls and damp proofing etc), so I was curious as to whether you'd found anyone you could recommend? Many thanks. |

Damp-proofing - Try allgoods. More expensive than competitors, but they clean up and do a cracking job!!!
