An application has been lodged for planning permission for the offices at 66-68 Alma Road. The plans involve the conversion of the premises to eight single and six two-bedroom flats. This is in addition to the two basement flats that exist currently and for which permission was refused to convert to offices in 1984. A total therefore of 16 dwellings, with perhaps 28 beds.
Naturally insufficient parking spaces have been included in the plan, just 14, but with space for 12 bicycles! These days it is essential that the number of parking spaces must match the number of beds as couples on many occasions have a car each.
My question is, does it exceed dwelling density for the area which already has a number of flats all around.
