Using the 3D viewer, the whole scene comes to life and gives the photograph depth. Without the viewer the picture seems 'flat' and not as life-like.
Looking at the hand-coloured version, the colourist has picked out the hat of the young lady sitting infront of her friend. In the black and white view, the
hat is merged with her hair. The colour certainly brings the Curfew Tower's roof right into the picture.
The Promenade, on the Windsor side of the photo, is very basic and today's view of the same area would show how much improvement has occurred over the
years. Perhaps thamesweb could do a 'then and now' on this one, please!.
The photographer chose the right setting for his 'view' in that he has local people, The Brocas, The Thames and Windsor Castle, all captured on a
sunny Summer's day.
