I have received the following email enquiry. Can anyone help?
I am a metal detectorists and found a button in a field near Exeter with the name ‘T.R. COBDEN, Windsor’ on it – the last 3 letters are a calculated guess. Many tailors had buttons made with their names on them and I was hopeful that someone can confirm when this tailoring business existed and if it has any modern day successors. At a guess I would imagine it dates from between 1860 - 1900.It appears to state either T.R. COBDEN or T.R. COBDAN but definitely WINDSOR below – there are no markings on the rear. It is approximately 11/16" diameter.
