The funeral procession of George V passes along the High Street in Windsor,
28th January 1936, on its way to St George's Chapel.
From time to time we receive enquiries about pall bearers at royal funerals. The writer is often hoping to find a photograph of a relative who was involved in the procession in some way, or even just confirmation that a family rumour is true.
At this stage we do not have very much information about who took part although it is sometimes possible to locate and identify family members from contemporary press photographs published at the time, or regimental archives can help. Newspapers are often to be found on internet auction sites, or from dealers, for reasonable prices. Once a photo has been located in the press it may be possible to obtain a high quality image from a newspaper archive or picture library.
The purpose of this forum thread is to permit families or individual genealogists to report their findings or to get in touch with others involved in similar tasks.
