The six year old sapling was a gift from The Royal Albert Institute Trust and was planted adjacent to the carriageway east of the Copper Horse, and north of Royal Lodge. John Handcock from the Royal Albert Institute Trust greets the Queen on her arrival. The Duke of York looks on. Joyce Sampson greets the Queen with other Trustees of the RAI The Queen adds some soil around the oak tree The planting ceremony at midday had been delayed by two weeks after the snow of April 6th forced its postponement. The Queen wanted reassurance that it was not too late to plant the tree and was assured that with a good watering regularly through the summer it will do very well. My son has lots of high res. pictures on his camera that I am waiting for, then I can complete the captioning etc. of the mini-video. Here is an interim version... Posts: 69 (04/22/08 00:35:32) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	That was so good thamesweb, thanks, (again).......so good to hear Her Majesty and I heard her say that she couldn't have planted it before because there was too much snow. And when she left, did I see her get into the driver's seat?. I know she likes to drive herself around, but how refreshing. I could also hear a shutter 'clicking', was that you by any chance? How did you get to be so close to the action, and did you have to get a special permit......could any member of the public have walked up there to see this little bit of history. I have edited out a fair bit of the event and the final video will be longer. I should have remembered that the stills camera would make a noise. I will try and edit out some of the clicks if I can! Members of the public who happened to be walking or jogging in that part of the park would have chanced upon the ceremony by accident as it was not publicised but I and my son were invited along to record the event through my website and as a member of the Local History Group.

Perhaps in a couple of hundred years it might become known as 'The Diamond Wedding Oak'!
