Thanks, thamesweb. Can I ask, which end of Bexley Street was the photo taken? We both remember Mr. and Mrs. Cox, (Ivy), and her son and daughter, who lived just about where you are parked - well, that's if you were at the 'end', and 'side' of the street that I think you were?

Thanks, too, for the info. I hope someone will know 'Billy's' whereabouts. His sisters, by-the-way, both attended Brigadine (?) Convent in their senior years. Yes, 'Castle Farm Caravan Camp', I remember the name now. I think there were a couple of old petrol pumps outside the driveway too. Opposite Rogers' there was a tiny Post Office with an 'old' telephone box outside, and a baker's shop attached to the Post Office. My Mother baked her own bread then and I'd go to the bakers to buy live yeast. We would also phone my Aunt, in Wexham, from that phone box. She didn't have a phone, but was allowed to take the call at 'The Travellers' Friend Public House' where she 'did' for the Landlady.

Mrs. Rogers gave my Mother a packet of 'Birdseye' Frozen Peas, and way back then, none of us had ever heard or seen anything like them.....they were in a small, rectangular box and we kept the box for ages, showing it to anyone who came to the house.....freezers then were unknown to us. Along with food parcels from an Australian family, we all kept going after The War.
