I hope the Noble Lord won't be too annoyed with this picture of him in his first year at Windsor Grammar School (now Windsor Boys School). We Old Windsorians are, after all, proud of his more recent achievements. The picture is of the Blessed Snowdrops protecting 'Angelina' when the play of the same name was performed by sixth formers (and first formers) on July 21st and 22nd 1960, 48 years ago this week. Any guesses?? (He is 2nd on the left)

We've both looked at this photo and have looked into Google for someone in Windsor who's had 'recent achievements', and still can't detect
who this young 'County Boy' is. So, how much longer must be wait thamesweb? I first of all said 'it's thamesweb', but perhaps being absent
Windsorians, it's possibly someone we don't know at all........I'd phone my cousin who was there in the 2nd form in 1960, but he's on holiday
and anyway, he can't see the photo...

Clues... Navy, Old Windsorian (what school name are you searching for?) House of Lords... that should do it, it works for me!

Thanks for the 'hint', The House of Lords. I've gone into their website and have emailed them, filling in a form and asking for help. I'll let you know when I get any reply. I put 'Angelina' into Google, and guess who 'popped' up on every line, 'Miss Jolie'......I'll have another look at The Windsor Boys' School site. He was a good-looking 11-year-old, so I'm assuming he hasn't changed that much??!! |

The search clues are in my earlier post! Don't forget it was the Grammar School in those days so that is how the search engines will find him...

Well, now I know who he is, I wonder how many other's do? Mrs.Thatcher once said 'the lady's not for turning', (or words to that effect), can
'Snowdrop' say the same?

Not only did I know straightaway who the now-famous Blessed Snowdrop was, I can also put a name to at least two out of the other three snowdrops in the
picture. But then I jolly well ought to have been able to, since (a few months after the photo was taken) I joined them all in Form 2A of WGS. I wasn't a
classmate of the now-famous one for very long, mind, because in the summer in 1961 he departed with his family to Clydebank, a move which was presumably not
entirely lacking in significance so far as his future career was concerned. Pat Larkin's reference to Margaret Thatcher is especially appropriate, of
course, since it was during the course of the South Atlantic unpleasantness which took place during her time as Prime Minister that the now-famous one first
came to public prominence as a result of having his frigate shot (or bombed) from under him, so to speak.
